Job Description: Data Management Specialist
Project Overview:
USAID/Jordan awarded a five-year Cooperative Agreement, the Health Service Quality Accelerator Activity, to accelerate and maintain improvements in reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) outcomes through Jordan’s public and private health sectors.
The Activity’s primary objectives are to improve the quality of the supply side of healthcare and to identify and address some barriers that hinder equitable access and utilization of RMNCH services, focusing on vulnerable populations within Jordan.
Durrat Al Manal for Development and Training is one of the implementing partners of the Activity. DMDT was established as a nonprofit company in 2016 with the mission of empowering and developing skills and capacities of individuals, communities and organizations in Jordan and the region. DMDT has been on the forefront of various successful collaborations and empowerment projects and activities with supportive donors international and national donors and corporations: business service providers, government entities, UN agencies, NGOs and INGOs, universities and international partners to continue its mission of delivering effective development and humanitarian programming.

Durrat AlManal is seeking to hire a full time Data Management Specialist. The position reports to the Health Systems Strengthening Senior Advisor. The specialist will be working directly with Surveillance and Data Management Advisor at the USAID Health Services Quality Accelerator Activity.
Position Overview
The Data Management Specialist provides expert support to strengthen the existing routine RMNCH health information systems including the Maternal Mortality Surveillance and Response system and support the supervision of the collection, reporting, and analysis of data at different level of the health care system, including health facility, health directorates, and central level.
Job Description
- Support MOH health care providers to obtain, strengthen and maintain their abilities to collect, produce, analyze, and disseminate high-quality, accurate, and reliable data to meet data users’ needs;
- Assist the Surveillance and the Surveillance and Data Management Advisor in implementing and monitoring Jordan’s Maternal Mortality Surveillance and Response (JMMSR) system at all levels.
- Strengthen capacity of healthcare providers in data manipulation, basic analytical skills, and data visualization;
- Provide technical assistance to the Quality Assurance and Patient Safety teams (QAPS) at the health facility level and Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Councils at the Health Directorates level;
- Provide technical assistance in Data Quality Assessment (DQA) and reviews;
- Provide support in checking the quality of RMNCH data in the Activity-supported facilities from all perspectives: completeness, confidentiality, accuracy, and consistency;
- Assist the Ministry of Health in creating and generating statistical reports of the national registries and surveillance systems as required, such as the cystic fibrosis registry and other surveillance systems.
- Support the Activity in strengthening the capacity of the QAPS Teams and the Quality Safety Councils at the health directorates level; and
- Support partnership, collaboration, and cooperation with key stakeholders on matters related to data management.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in health information systems, computer science, statistics, or any health-related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferable.
- Extensive knowledge of data preparation procedures and requirements.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role or data management.
- Analytical, communication, teamwork, interpersonal, organization, data management, and computer skills.
- Perform data analysis using various statistical tools
- Experience in the Quality of RMNCH health service delivery.
- Research skills and experience.
- Computer literacy
- Excellent written and spoken English and local languages (Arabic) skills.
